A walk-off left 11u DS Sudbury Shamrocks on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Junior Voyageurs 11U on Sunday at Kin Field. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when the Jr Vs singled, scoring one run.
A ground out by the Jr Vs on the board in the bottom of the second. The 11U Shamrocks scored on a passed ball, which helped Shamrocks tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. The 11U Shamrocks jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when Jack Taylor drew a walk, scoring one run, Dante Grottoli singled, scoring one run, and Emmet McAvoy doubled, scoring two runs.
Junior Voyageurs 11U tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a single, a double, and a single.
Karson Dempster stepped on the hill first for the Sudbury Shamrocks. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
Emmet McAvoy, Dante Grottoli, and Luke Pavacic each collected one hit for the Shamrocks. Emmet McAvoy led the Shamrocks with two runs batted in.
Jack Taylor paced the Shamrocks with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Preston Rickard, Luke Pavacic, and Walker Reid each stole multiple bases for the Shamrocks.
