2017 Summer Coordinator - Baseball Program

20 hours/week – $12 to $15/hour

SMBA Looking to hire a Summer Coordinator



Reporting to the Sudbury Minor League Baseball Association Board of Directors, the successful applicant will act as a liaison between the Board of Directors, players, coaches, parents and sponsors to ensure a viable program for both house league and high performance athletes. The individual will be responsible for the day to day operation of our baseball program. The applicant will be required to represent the S.M.B.A in a highly professional manner in all dealings with both participants and the general public.



Under the general direction of the Board of Directors of the Sudbury Minor Baseball Association:

1. Set up each field prior to game time

2. Ensure the Rookie Ball pitching machines are ready nightly

3. Set base pins at the appropriate distance for all games

4. Schedule umpires on a two-week basis for scheduled games

5. Record dues to umpires at the end of each game

6. Schedule & supervise the use of the batting cage

7. Distribute, collect, and maintain game and practice equipment

8. Prepare score sheets and forms such as M.V.P. listings are available and posted for coaches.

9. Attend S.M.B.A. Board meetings and other functions as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors.

10. Promote and assist in organizing all special events such as try-out camps clinics and house league tournament(s)

11. Help maintain the S.M.B.A. website with all pertinent league information such as standings schedules and upcoming events.

12. Help maintain player data base

13. Document all incidents on the proper forms and inform Board Member(s)

14. Perform other duties related to the position as required.



Successful completion (or near completion) of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Enrolment in an accredited post-secondary institution would be an asset.



Familiarity with the best practices within the area(s) of responsibility. Exposure to recreational and competitive sports and/or sports management would be an asset.

• Excellent use of English; verbally and written

• French verbal skills an asset
